Dear Member,
I’ve never taken for granted the trust so many of you placed in me when you first selected me to be your candidate for Mayor in July 2016. Now I am again asking for your support to be your Mayoral candidate in 2022.
We’ve achieved a lot since I was re-elected Mayor of Hackney in 2018. We’ve shown the best of Labour in power, together helping build a fairer, safer and more sustainable borough, while always campaigning, holding the Tory Government to account and fighting for a Labour Government.
And at every step, I’ve been open and transparent with you. I’ve been to every ward branch in the borough and reported back to Hackney North and South meetings every month. I’ve been with you on the Hackney doorstep and further afield with #HackneyOnTour. I’ve held an annual Mayor’s Question Time and responded to around 1800 pieces of casework every year.
Now it’s time for progressive, local leadership to continue helping Hackney recover and rebuild. But going back to normal isn’t an option, because ‘normal’ didn’t work for so many of our residents.
So please reselect me as your Labour and Co-operative candidate for Mayor of Hackney, and let’s rebuild a better Hackney, together.
